Zanders at the SAP Treasury and Working Capital Management Live 2020
From 6-8 October, the SAP Treasury and Working Capital Management event took place, for the first time as a virtual event because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Spread over three days, it featured the latest insights and developments from SAP as well as a wide array of customer case studies to address key industry challenges, hot topics and future development.
Traditionally, Zanders is a key attendant and speaker in this event. This year’s key topic was centred around navigating uncertainty with real-time treasury. Based on experiences with our clients, we also see the demand for up-to-the-minute visibility into cash and risk positions growing to allow treasuries to respond effectively to the current volatile and complex business environment.
During the event, SAP presented a few of their latest developments such as the integration of treasury with Central Finance of the Treasury Workstation. Via the Treasury Workstation, the Treasury and Risk Management component can be deployed in SAP S/4HANA Cloud while keeping the Financial Accounting component in an existing SAP on-premise environment. The Treasury and Risk Management component manages the financial transactions and generates postings in SAP S/4HANA Cloud and then transfers the postings to the Financial Accounting component in the on-premise system.
In this light British American Tobacco (BAT) and Zanders jointly presented the challenges, lessons learned and solution implemented to optimize short-term cash forecasting using the Cash Flow Analyzer app in SAP S/4HANA 1809 FPS02 (as a side car solution). By integrating data from SAP ECC into the S/4 HANA Cash Management solution, payments, customer invoices, treasury deals and bank statement information is transferred via IDocs for usage by Fiori apps. This solution allowed BAT to start their switch from a manual to an automated cash position report and provided a solid base for future enhancements to cash forecasting.
Transfer pricing solutions
In February 2020, the OECD released the first consensus document on transfer pricing for financial transactions. Setting interest rates on intercompany loans is generally a treasury activity. Ensuring these rates are in line with transfer pricing regulations and generating the appropriate documentation increases treasury’s compliance burden. During an interactive roundtable, Zanders provided practical implications for setting these intercompany rates and the opportunity of automating this process via the integration of our transfer pricing solutions with the TRM and IHC modules of SAP.
In conclusion it was another great event from SAP, including solid knowledge-sharing sessions and good discussions. Thanks to everyone dropping by our (virtual) booth – we are looking forward to meeting you again next year!
Session recordings and on-demand content is still available in the coming months via the event platform.
