During the last phase of my bachelor Econometrics and Operations Research at the VU Amsterdam I decided that I wanted to work as a working student for two days a week next to my master. Gaining work experience and developing practical skills were the most important reasons for this. I was looking for a job at a consultancy firm where I could learn a lot of new things and put my econometrics skills into practice. The big four could be the obvious choice. However, I wanted to work for a company with a more personal approach. After the Inhouse Day at the Zanders office, I knew for sure that I wanted to work here. What appealed to me about Zanders were the smart and nice colleagues and the focus on personal development. That’s why I started working as an analyst for two days a week next to my master Econometrics and Operations Research.
What I like about Zanders is the open culture and flat hierarchical structure. Everyone is willing to help answer your questions. I was immediately included in the team and I felt quickly at home. Furthermore, I enjoy the kind of projects I am working on as an analyst. You can really make a difference, even as an analyst. The projects are mostly quantitative which fits my study background. The diversity of the projects contributes to a steep learning curve. The work at Zanders helps me to find out what I like to do and what I am good at. This also helps in choosing my master courses. Combining a master with working two days a week is challenging, but I find it essential in choosing my future career path.
