“An enormous leap forwards in your development”
Rogier Galesloot joined Zanders in 2007. He started as a student with a part-time job, after which he climbed up via a trainee post to his present position of associate consultant. “I came in contact with Zanders via a fellow student who already worked at Zanders and who had a lot of good things to say about the company,” Rogier explains. “I started as a student with a part-time job in the Financial Institutions department. I worked two days a week there. In this period, I was introduced to the various aspects of the consultancy business and the many different activities that take place within Zanders.”

Work for a bank
For his final project, Rogier built a model for a large Dutch bank. This bank was looking for a valuation system for pricing inflation products. “During this project, I really got to know the strength of Zanders. At moments when I just couldn’t seem to clinch it in terms of content, there was always someone who was willing to assist me and help me on my way.”

After successfully rounding off his traineeship and studies, Rogier started as an associate consultant at the valuation desk. This department is responsible for the valuation of all financial products within Zanders, ranging from simple interest products to complicated structures such as asset-backed securities. The work done in this department is fairly technical. “This definitely does justice to my econometric background,” says Rogier.

Exchanging knowledge and information
Besides the substantive challenges presented by his job, Rogier also learns a great deal from his fellow junior employees. The firm offers two training weeks for employees who are just starting out like Rogier. In the first week, the participants are given an overview of all activities that take place within Zanders. This way, they get a good idea of all the company’s activities and see the full range of options offered by Zanders.

During the second training week, the juniors are prepared for the CFA exam. “The great thing about these training weeks is that you share knowledge and information that you have acquired at the client with one another. As a result, in your very first year of employment, you already take an enormous leap forwards in your development.”
