“This company has an open mind”
When Frenchman Pierre Wernert applied for a position at Zanders, he didn’t know what to expect. After his first interview, he called his wife and summarized the conversation in one word: “Wow.”
Pierre started working at a large international pension consultancy firm after graduation. Here he met his Dutch wife. In 2007, the couple traded Paris for Amsterdam and started working at the Dutch office of the company. When the crisis got hold of his employer, the atmosphere there changed and Pierre started looking for a new challenge and found Zanders. Although he didn’t know Zanders at first, his enthusiasm grew quickly. “I quickly realized that Zanders is and thinks more internationally than my previous employer. This company has an open mind. This appealed to me, as well as the flat organization structure. Chris Zanders and the other partners are always approachable. They know everyone in the company. Above all, it is pleasant to work with such clever people.”
Three jobs
At the moment Pierre has several functions at Zanders. He works in the back-office of the currency fund TCX, he supports ING in The Hague two days a week and is also part of the Zanders Valuation Desk where he values swaps. Isn’t that a rather heavy workload for one person? “No”, states Pierre. “I want to be challenged. The back-office work – calculations, payments, valuations, system maintenance – is fun and stimulating.
A lot of learning
Pierre wants to further develop himself within Zanders. “I want to keep learning more. Zanders is a treasury company. Implementing treasury tools interests me. Training people also appeals to me. Zanders is also expanding within Europe. In future, I hope to add value to Zanders by getting involved in international opportunities and projects where the French language is an asset.”
