“What I really like about the job is giving advice on the big picture”
Bart Mol worked in financial control until 2005 but felt as though he wasn't gaining expertise or progressing in the role. He explains how he went on to find a far more satisfying career, saying: “I had always been interested in corporate treasury so when I saw a job at Zanders advertised, I applied for the junior position.”
Since joining Zanders five years ago, Bart has specialized in treasury and risk management. He is now a senior consultant in the Organization, Processes and Systems (OPS) division. It's a job that entails dealing with the business processes of corporates, government institutions and financial institutions, structuring their treasury processes according to best practice and advising on treasury and risk management systems or implementing system solutions supporting the business.
“What I really like about the job is giving advice on the big picture in terms of treasury processes,” says Bart. “Through our international clients I've gained a lot of diverse experience and I enjoy talking to business people about their issues and challenges.” The job has involved visiting clients in Saudi Arabia, Israel, Greece and Bulgaria, as well as countries in western and southern Europe.
Bart now sees a career path for himself at Zanders. He explains: “In future I see myself growing as a consultant. I hope to continue advising clients on best practice in treasury management and to keep on managing implementation projects.”
Part of growing as a consultant is staying updated and Bart says: “This is really something you can't do alone, so it's great to share knowledge with colleagues. Zanders has a lot of experts in each area, so we learn from each other. It's always important to pick up the phone or sit down together to brain storm.”
This team spirit extends to after-office hours, with lots of sporting and social activities. Bart adds: “I try to participate as much as possible. These events really help to get to know your colleagues better.”
