“It's a very smart, clever crowd that works here, but at the same time it's informal”

Anastasia joined Zanders at the end of January 2010 and is one of the newest employees working in the Organization, Processes and Systems (OPS) department. Her first assignment, within her first week of starting, was at an international client in Greece. Anastasia's role was to support  implementation of SAP Treasury and it has involved traveling and working in Athens on a regular basis.

Although this assignment was challenging and Anastasia had to learn quickly, she was working alongside two experienced colleagues. Anastasia says: “Although my two colleagues were  extremely busy on this project, they always took the time to support me and they really helped me a lot.”

Since February, Anastasia has worked on three projects for Zanders. She adds: “Since joining, I have learned so much. Zanders is a strategic consultancy organization, and this has changed the way I look at things.” Coming from a background as a financial analyst, Anastasia has nonetheless done a lot of on-the-job learning at Zanders on subjects such as treasury systems, risk management and SAP.

She has benefited from internal training and was able to attend Zanders' annual risk management training in Rotterdam. Anastasia has also received training on SAP and is currently studying for her CFA exam. She adds: “The nice thing about Zanders is that we have training on treasury from the company's more experienced consultants. In addition, those of us who are studying for the CFA went on a one-week summer course, and from September to December, we have one day per week in-house training.”

Anastasia, who is Russian, describes the atmosphere in her office as being very professional with an international feel: “It's a very smart, clever crowd that works here, but at the same time it's informal. Whenever you don't know how to proceed, people are there to help. Zanders also has an international focus and although it's not a big company, there are several of us from different countries.” Anastasia has lived in the Netherlands for seven years, although she also studied for her Masters degree in London.

In keeping with the young and up-beat office atmosphere, there are also lots of after-work activities, which Anastasia says is great for consultants who are often working remotely. She says: “We are often not in the office at the same time, so it's great to have time together during social events.”
