Zanders is led by seven partners who share final responsibility for the quality and development of the services.
As co-founder of Zanders, Rob Naber has experience in all sectors.
After studying Econometrics at Amsterdam University, Rob started his career as a management trainee at AMRO Bank, where he soon transferred to the treasury field. After a few years in the dealing room gaining necessary risk management experience, he joined Chris Zanders in 1994.
He is currently active mainly in advising the public sector and financial institutions. Within the management team, he has a distinctive role particularly due to the combination of technical finance and commercial aspects of consultancy.
Sander van Tol is partner at Zanders and has shared responsibility for the corporate clients advisory practice, a role that focuses on treasury organization and strategy, financial risk management and corporate finance.
After studying Financial Economics at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, and working in treasury at WBR, in 1996 Sander joined the recently established Zanders. In 2003, he became a partner, responsible for the corporate advisory practice. Sander is advising many leading global multinationals, NGO’s and Financial Institutions.
Sander teaches the Chartered Treasurer curriculum at VU University Amsterdam, is part time associated at the Rotterdam School of Management and is also a member of the advisory board to the Dutch Association of Corporate Treasurers (DACT).
As a partner, Judith van Paassen is responsible for specialized advisory in systems and technology related projects, such as selecting, implementing or restructuring treasury and risk management systems.
Judith’s team works on major international challenges with four European offices, designing business processes for off-the-shelf systems for corporates, financial institutions and public organizations.
Judith graduated cum laude from Technical University Delft in Information Technology, and has worked with Zanders from its inception. She became a partner in 1999.
Within Zanders, Jaap Karelse is in charge of the Financial Institutions department together with Gerbert van Grootheest.
He advises financial institutions in issues relating to quantitative risk management. Jaap has worked with Zanders since 1997 and became a partner in 2002.
He studied Technical Mathematics at Technical University Delft, followed by a two-year post-doctoral curriculum relating to mathematical control and policy models.
Gerbert van Grootheest shares responsibility with Jaap Karelse for all consultancy relating to quantitative risk management for financial institutions. Gerbert leads the Valuation Desk, Credit Risk Services and the Rating Advisory Services.
After studying Econometrics at Vrije University in Amsterdam, he joined the company in 2002. His preeminent fields of expertise are market- and credit risk management in banks, and the valuation of funds, mortgages, loans and derivatives.
Gerbert has been part of the management team since January 2013.
Laurens Tijdhof is responsible for the international offices in Brussels, London and Zurich. Together with his team, a good mix of young and experienced consultants, he provides consultancy and interim services to companies, government organizations and financial institutions.
Laurens joined Zanders in 2000, and became a partner in 2009.
He graduated from Tilburg University with Masters degrees in Business Economics, Fiscal Economics and Fiscal Law.
Bart-Jan Wittenberg has shared responsibility for Zanders’ consultancy activities in the public sector. With his team, he advises central and local government bodies, housing associations, and institutions in the healthcare and education sectors.
Bart-Jan studied Economics at Tilburg University. After graduating, he started his career as a treasurer with PWS Woningstichting, followed by a specialist role in treasury institutional sales within ABN AMRO Bank.
In 1998, Bart-Jan joined Zanders and became a partner in 2001.
In 1994, Chris Zanders and Rob Naber decide to collaborate as equal partners within the firm Zanders & Partners as treasury consultants. Judith van Paassen is also part of this Utrecht based team from the very start.
After three years, Zanders outgrows its Utrecht office and moves to Zeist. In the following years, Jaap Karelse, Bart-Jan Wittenberg and Sander van Tol bring in new expertise, increasing the work field and gradually developing higher sales.
The firm outgrows the Zeist office quickly and Zanders moves to its current Bussum office, at Brinklaan 134. Within 10 years after its foundation the company employs over 50 professionals.
In 2005, the firm decides on focusing more on international activities. Based in Brussels, Laurens Tijdhof starts developing this international market.
In 2008, Zanders opens an office in the UK, followed by a Swiss office two years later. Next to these offices, the company is active with clients in different continents.
In 2012 the company employs over 100 professionals coming from 20 different nationalities. Nearly half of the revenue is earned outside the Netherlands.
Two decades after founding the company of the same name, Chris Zanders says goodbye to the consultancy firm he saw develop year-on-year. Gerbert van Grootheest became meanwhile part of the management team.
